Bakaiti Web Series : honest Bakaiti review
If you have ever liked the story of an Indian middle class family like “Gullak”, then Zee5’s new web series Bakaiti may be on your list. But does this show leave an impact like “Gullak”? Let’s know in detail.
What is the story ?
“Bakaiti” is the story of the Katara family of Ghaziabad, who are facing a financial crunch. Due to this, they decide to rent out one of their rooms, due to which one of the siblings has to give up their privacy. This seven-episode series (20-25 minutes each) is full of light middle class problems and brother-sister fun.
Does it feel like “Gullak”? – Bakaiti vs Gullak
Comparison of “Gullak” and “Bakaiti” is inevitable. The true middle class feel that was in “Gullak“–limited facilities, no car, everyday struggles–does not come out as deeply in “Bakaiti“. The Katara family also has a car and the father is an advocate, due to which the real struggle is somehow less visible.
Still, some episodes, especially the last two, manage to show the truth and emotions of every middle class family.

Emotional connect: Where did the series miss?
“Gullak” showed the emotional relationships between children and parents very well, but “Bakaiti” does not capture the emotions completely. For example, the family’s reaction after the father’s death does not seem that deep. At some places, there are missing details in things related to culture.Indian web series 2025

Acting and characters – Bakaiti cast
- The chemistry between Rajesh Telang and Shiva Chadda is great as always.
- Aditya Shukla (famous from Instagram reels) has also done a good job.
- The actress playing the role of the sister also looks real in her role––the sibling banter is fun.
The water motor scene in every episode seems a bit repetitive and irritating, which could have been reduced a bit.
My verdict: Should you watch it or not?
Don’t have high expectations from Bakaiti. This show is not very extra-ordinary but it is not bad either. You can definitely watch it once for light entertainment and some funny moments.
Rating: 6/10
- There is no vulgar or obscene scene, you can watch it with family.
- The ending is like “Gullak”––as if the stories and bakaiti never end.
Result: Should you watch it on Zee5 or not? – Bakaiti Web Series Review
If you like Indian middle class family drama, sibling fun and real life twists––Bakaiti is a good option. Don’t have high expectations, you can watch it to pass time.
